Story
We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
It felt like a beautiful, meaningful idea—right up until the confirmation email arrived. Ben and I: two reasonably sensible adults collectively looked at the Peak District Ultra Challenge in July 2026 and thought, Yes. We can do this. I immediately became Team Motivator (and Spreadsheet Manager), Ben assured me it was “basically just a long stroll,”
At this stage, spirits are high, soles and toe nails are intact. There is talk of training walks, sensible footwear, and how lovely the Peak District will be in summer—rolling hills, fresh air, and absolutely no mention of the word “blisters.” The team name, Sole Destroyers, is still said with a laugh, rather than the haunted tone it will inevitably acquire later. But jokes aside, we’ve signed up for something that matters: raising money for Mind, supporting mental health, and proving that a mum, and her son, have willingly chosen mild madness for a very good cause. July 2026 may yet humble us —but for now, the Sole Destroyers are optimistic and confident we can do this, follow our training and show your support by helping us reach our target to help those struggling with their mental health x
