Great Manchester 10K · 18 May 2025 ·

We help people living with sight loss and other disabilities to achieve their ambitions and go beyond expectations. We believe wherever they are, everyone has the right to an independent and fulfilling life. Our support enables people and their families to build skills and develop confidence.

Story

I am running the Manchester 10k in May and would love to raise money for a local outstanding charity who support children and young people with visual impairment.

Henshaws has been an incredible support for my son and our family, helping him—and so many other children and young people—embrace life beyond sight loss and disabilities. They focus on what young people can do, not what they can’t, offering exciting and accessible activities throughout the year.

From rock climbing to 4 night residentials, Henshaws creates a safe and supportive space where young people can take on new challenges, grow in confidence, and become more independent. The impact is truly life-changing—I've seen firsthand how these experiences help kids develop new skills, build resilience, and believe in themselves. But it’s not just about the activities; it’s about the friendships they make along the way, forming connections with others who understand their journey.

Henshaws has means so much to us and that’s why I’m raising money to support their amazing work and incredibly passionate and caring team. Every donation helps them continue making a real difference in the lives of children like my son.
