Our Mission
At Aimia we strive to make a difference through our collaborations, and to ensure that our mission of change shines through each partnership. We believe in being an integral part of change, instead of waiting for it to happen, which is why we are partnered with Alder Hey to raise money for Same Day Emergency Care
The Challenge
In order to raise the money to support this important cause, a group of determined Aimia employees will embark on a day adventure, Friday 2nd May, during which we will tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks including Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough - a 24-mile round trip,1585m of ascent, so around 12 hours of walking!! This challenge will test our strength, determination and willpower, and we would be hugely appreciative of any donation, large or small, to aid Alder Hey in their appeal to give vulnerable children and families swift and timely care.
Alder Hey
The sickest and most vulnerable patients are often carried into our Emergency Department by parents and carers, rather than being brought to Alder Hey by ambulance. For these families, every second is extremely raw and emotionally charged, so swift and timely care is essential to ensure the very best outcomes for the young patients.
Alder Hey’s Emergency Department is now under more pressure than ever. The current department was designed to look after around 150 attendances daily, however during peak winter months, attendances can be as high as 300. A staggering 70% of attendances are for conditions that do not require acute emergency care in hospital.
The new Same Day Emergency Care Centre will deliver the following key benefits:
For children – By facilitating new and improved models of patient care, to ensure the very best outcomes for our sickest and most vulnerable children.
For families – By providing direct access to the ‘right team, first time’, this will reduce waiting times and anxiety for families, ensuring that they can return home safely and confidently with their children.
For the future – By creating a ‘one stop shop’ model of care, this will increase learning and collaboration opportunities for staff, ensuring that Alder Hey remains at the forefront of emergency care.
