Story
Club legend Mickey Thomas and a team from the Wrexham AFC Foundation will run the United Airlines New York City Half Marathon next month to raise funds for the Foundation’s twinning partnership with Kick4Life.
The 13.2-mile run will take place on Sunday, March 15, and will feature Mickey and a Foundation contingent starting at Prospect Park, running over the Brooklyn Bridge, and through Times Square before finishing in Central Park.
Over the next few weeks, in the lead-up to the run, we will be following Mickey as he prepares to take to the New York streets, and you can track his progress on the Foundation's X, Instagram, and Facebook accounts.
The Wrexham AFC and Kick4Life collaboration harnesses the power of football to positively change children's lives by inspiring and connecting communities across the globe.
Additionally, we are also delivering a Football for Good curriculum together, focused on health, education, social inclusion and employability, helping young people build brighter futures through sport.
The twinning partnership has also seen delegations from both organisations visit both continents and learn from one another, strengthening the community bond.
Over the next three years, these initiatives aim to reach more than 3,000 vulnerable children and young people across both communities.
