Abseil for Dads Rock – Giving Back to a Group That’s Supported Me and My Son
I’m doing an abseil to raise money for Dads Rock — and I’ll be honest, I’m absolutely bricking it. Heights are no my thing at all, but I’m pushing myself to do this for a group that’s given me and my son so much support.
I started going along to Dads Rock with my wee boy when he was 4 weeks old - he's now 1, and it’s been a lifeline for us. From the start, it was a welcoming, non-judgemental space where dads can just turn up, be themselves, and spend proper quality time with their kids. The support I’ve had has made a real difference to my confidence as a dad.
As well as the support, I’ve made genuine friendships through Dads Rock — meeting other dads who get it, who’ve been through similar stuff, and who look out for one another. That sense of community has meant a lot to me, especially during tougher times.
Dads Rock supports fathers who might be struggling with isolation, mental health, confidence, or just needing a bit of support. By helping dads, they’re also helping children — building stronger relationships and happier families.
This abseil (as terrifying as it is for me) is my way of giving something back and saying thank you.
All the money raised will help Dads Rock continue to:
●Support dads
●Create positive experiences for fathers and their children
●Build friendships and strong support networks
●Be there for families when it really matters
Any donation, big or small, would mean a lot. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page would be hugely appreciated.
I’m doing this for my wee boy, the dads I’ve met along the way, and every family Dads Rock supports — I’m absolutely feart of heights, but I believe in this cause even more, so cheers for backing me as I go over the edge (and try no to greet).
