Singer/songwriter MIKA turns 40 on 18th August 2023.

To celebrate the occasion, Mika Fan Club is planning to make group donations to a few different charities in his name. We have already collected and donated to the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative, which will plant a batch of Cedar of Lebanon seedlings in a particular site in Lebanon, dedicated to Mika on the occasion of his 40th birthday. We also plan to make a group donation via this JustGiving page to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) as we have done for several years running.

As of May 2023, more than 110 million individuals were forcibly displaced worldwide. This marks the largest ever single-year increase in forced displacement in UNHCR’s history, propelled by the war in Ukraine and other deadly conflicts.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) works tirelessly to help give refugees the shelter, protection and safety they urgently need. Whether refugee and displaced families are uprooted for weeks, months or years, UNHCR remains long after the headlines disappear – providing lifesaving aid, shelter, cash assistance to meet household needs, access to education and livelihood training.

Over the years, Mika has supported the UNHCR's efforts to protect the rights of refugees and to provide assistance to those who have been forcibly displaced. In December 2015, Mika visited Lebanon to see the plight of Syrian refugees in that country first-hand, and in November 2017 Mika was the featured speaker at a UNHCR fundraising gala in Milan.

The international fan community of Mika Fan Club, which, like the UNHCR transcends country borders, has taken Mika's cause to heart. Over the past several years, the MFC has raised nearly €25,000 for UNHCR and worked to increase awareness of the organization's efforts.
