Mika's fundraiser for British Polio Fellowship

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
This year, I am proud to be running the London Marathon to support the incredible work of the British Polio Fellowship. Polio is an illness caused by a virus that mainly affects nerves in the spinal cord or brain stem. In its most severe form, Polio can lead to a person being unable to move certain limbs, hence when founded in 1939, the fellowship was named the Infant Paralysis Fellowship.
This charity is dedicated to helping people in the UK who are living with Polio and Post Polio Syndrome, offering essential support and resources to improve their quality of life.
This cause is deeply personal to me. My Uncle Fred contracted Polio as a child, and more recently has had to navigate the effects of Post Polio Syndrome, a condition that impacts many of the 120,000 Polio survivors in the UK. Witnessing his strength and resilience has inspired me to take on this challenge and make a difference.
By raising funds, I hope to help the British Polio Fellowship continue their vital work supporting families like mine. Every donation, no matter how small, will go a long way in providing hope and care for those affected.
Thank you so much for supporting me on this journey— it means the world to me and to those we’re helping together.
