I'm cycling 100 miles all the way around Leicestershire for LOROS Hospice!

Story
Friday 19th April marked 1 year since my Dad (Mick Connelly) lost his long battle with cancer whilst being cared for by the amazing team at LOROS.
Having previously had no real understanding of the work that LOROS do for the people of Leicestershire, I was initially sceptical that it was the right place for Dad and my family. However, that scepticism was quickly knocked to one side as Dad’s end of life care began.
Each and every member of the staff and volunteers at LOROS were there not only providing excellent care for Dad, but also for us as the family. In his final days my family all but moved into LOROS to be with Dad where the staff and volunteers consistently went above and beyond to do what they could for us and they have continued to do so ever since.
LOROS is a registered charity, and is fully dependent on donations both large and small in order to offer the incredible service they provide. So in memory of Dad and to acknowledge our experience, I have decided to undertake several challenges over coming months and years to do my bit to help another family like mine who find themselves requiring the care only LOROS can provide in the Leicestershire area.
The first of my challenges will take place on Saturday 7th September 2024, where I, along with some friends, will undertake a 100 mile bike ride around the Leicestershire countryside, an event that is aptly named ‘The Leicestershire Round’. Below is the excerpt that LOROS have provided for the event.
‘On Saturday 7th September 2024, the LOROS Charity Bike Ride will return with a 100-mile cycle all the way around Leicestershire's beautiful rolling countryside. The route will loosely follow a road cycling version of the famous Leicestershire Round footpath, completely circumnavigating our beautiful county. At the same time as showcasing some of the best countryside and landmarks Leicestershire has to offer, the route will challenge those taking part due to the hilly nature of Leicestershire's rolling countryside!’
