Story
So this is it...I am going to try, with 17 others (most as unprepared as me) to take on a MASSIVE cycle ride from Durham to Bath via every test cricket ground in England - that 850kms in just four days - all for amazing local charities. These are primarily RUHX, The official Charity of The Royal United Hospital, Dorothy House Hospice Care, Bath Gateway out and About and The Ruth Strauss Foundation.
Why am I doing it...over the past few years I have personally been a regular user of services at the RUH and know the incredible stuff the team can do. The support they do, along with the other amazing charities really help people much less fortunate that me and my family and I hope this is a small way to help them.
Who are LCC...the ride has been organised as part of Lansdown Cricket Club's Bicentenary Celebrations, they've set the challenge to raise £200k for their 200 years of history - all for these amazing local charities. The club is a fantastic asset to the community, supporting young and old access sport, build networks and have fun. Times have changed, sport and grass roots clubs have to adapt - Lansdown has done that and is a thriving club (although always could do with a few more members!). This ride is not raising funds for the club, but I hope it will help new people connect with this incredible facility and community family!
I and the team are grateful for your dosh...I don't really do this sort of thing and have never done anything like it...so please give generously as I may not again..
