Portsmouth and Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards provide a Voluntary Beach and Rescue Service for Southsea and the Solent area. The Club patrol from May to September, providing a declared facility to HM Coastguard for search and rescue activities. The organisation aims to promote the teaching and training of the Royal Life Saving Society for lifesaving and lifeguarding.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for Portsmouth & Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards.

For the last 9 years, I have entered the ballot because I always vowed to myself that if I ever won a place, it would allow me to raise money for charities supported by my good friend Bob Gellett, in memory of his son Olly, who was sadly taken from us 10 years ago. And this year, that's exactly what I am doing.

Many of you will know the reason for supporting this charity is because Olly was a lifeguard with the Portsmouth & Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards and therefore I'm helping raise money to support them.

As I cross the starting line (not even thinking about the finish line at this point) I will be proudly doing it to raise money in memory of Olly and to support the charities that Bob's annually 'Grolly' day supports.
