On the 16th of October 2023 my good friend Neil sadly succumbed to cancer at the age of 41.
The Hospice of St Francis provided expert care for Neil and much needed respite for his loving family at this most difficult time.
To allow the Hospice to continue their incredible work, Neil's wife Liz has made it her aim to raise £100,000 for them in his honour, with the total to date sat at an outstanding £73k!
Neil ran the Great North Run in September 2021 just months before his diagnosis, and in 5 weeks time a group of us will be running those same 13.1 miles across Newcastle in his memory.
On that day three years ago, Neil managed to forget his shorts so had to run in his parrot pyjama shorts instead. If you're watching on TV, hopefully we'll be easy to spot 🦜
To ensure I do Neil, the Hospice, and the GNR justice, for the last 11 weeks I've been upping my running and getting back into shape for this amazing cause.
It costs the Hospice £5m each year to fund their free care, so any donations large or small will help Liz reach her target for Neil, and the Hospice continue their incredible work.
