Bike4TUF25 · 5 June 2025 to 7 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
8th September 2021 is a day I remember well, because, while Coronavirus was still a thing, I was having one of my Kidneys removed by the Urology Team at Guys Hospital that day. The organ in question had developed a stage 2 tumour basically the size of a tennis ball & it's removal via major surgery, was the most straightforward course of treatment.
I will be taking part in Bike4TUF25, which will see me cycle from London to Amsterdam over 3 days. Among those I will be joining on the ride will be my amazing Consultant Ben, who removed my Kidney nearly 4 years ago at this point.
To be told that you have Cancer is an alarming event for anyone at any stage in life. However, thanks to our wonderful NHS, to Ben, & the amazing Urology Team at Guys & St. Thomas's NHS trust, I was able to achieve a state of relative calm, knowing that my health & future prospects were, & still are, in the best possible hands. There is no better Urology team or Consultant in the country or on the planet.
I am raising money for The Urology Foundation, who assist these wonderful professionals and I would be grateful for any donations made.
This is my chance to give something back to those who have given so much to me & to those close to me.
Whilst I'm here, a shout out also to all the professionals who have been involved in my care over the years whether it's GP's, Nurses, Radiologist's performing scans over weekends, or hospital staff who have looked after me so well. I'm very grateful to all of you.
Many thanks.
