Marathon around 400 metre running track · 16 June 2024

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

One of our friends son, (Cameron) was diagnosed in October 2022 with testicular stage 4 cancer as it has spread to other organs in his body.

He endured months of chemotherapy with lengthy stays in hospital followed by surgery to remove the tumour.

We hoped we had a light at the end of his horrific journey only to be told the cancer had spread and he needed more intense treatment and surgery along with a stem cell transplant which would put him in isolation for a few weeks with only one visitor.

Through all this Cam has tired to keep positive and face whatever was thrown at him, in the hope of a very bright future.

Sadly, and heart wrenchingly heartbreaking the cancer kept spreading and is now terminal – a word no person, let alone your child or parent should ever have to hear.

Cam is now undergoing more chemo to slow the spread and to give him some quality.

He is a keen golfer which he’s not been able to play and is also a greenkeeper at Horsforth Golf Club, where he been able to put a few hours in for the upkeep of the greens. He’s a true Leeds United support and hopes they are promoted this season.

Cam faces an unknown future, but we keep making memories and as long as the sun keeps rising in the morning, we keep positive.

My Words (Cameron's Mum)

When cam was diagnosed with cancer our whole world was completely shattered, as a mum you feel completely helpless in a world where you should be able to protect your children. You walk in a world of darkness, fear and unknown – this is where Teenage Cancer trust held out their hand and reached out, not only to Cam but to myself. A hand of trust and love.

The support from not only the charity and all the staff on J94 St James has been truly amazing and especially Shona who has gone up and above the call of duty. I will be forever grateful to you. The love shone through like a beacon of light and hope, it showed Cam that we walk united together through this.

To everyone at Bexley wing on ward J94 you are like our second family, you certainly do you have a place in our hearts. You’ve been amazing!

To any family who has to walk this dark path in the future to know they are not alone and if the money raised can help lift a light of hope or make the journey a bit more bearable them we have done our job. Thank you.
