In April 2026, we’ll be running the London Marathon – all 26.2 miles of it – to raise money for a charity that quietly makes a huge impact: The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust.

Why Iolanthe?

Every woman deserves the best possible care when giving birth — and that starts with having brilliant, well-trained midwives. The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust helps midwives and student midwives grow, learn, and lead by providing funding for extra training, research, and community projects that improve maternity care across the UK.

Too often, incredible midwives have ideas to improve care but lack the funding to make them happen. That’s where Iolanthe steps in — especially for work that supports women and babies who are disadvantaged or in vulnerable situations.

Why This Matters to Mike

When my daughter was born, I saw first-hand just how amazing midwives truly are. The care, reassurance, and strength they gave us through every stage is something I’ll never forget. They do one of the most important jobs in the world, often without recognition and with limited resources.

This run is my way of saying thank you – not just to the midwives who helped us, but to all midwives working every day to support women and families through one of life’s biggest moments.

Why This Matters to Olly

I have two amazing sons. The care and support we received from our midwives was just as amazing. Having someone there to explain what was happening and guide us through our choices made all the difference.

We often think we know what a midwife does — but when you see the wide range of people they support, from every background and circumstance, you begin to understand the enormity of the task they take on. They helped us, and now we want to help them back.

How You Can Help

Training for this marathon won’t be easy — there will be cold mornings, aching legs, and a lot of running when we’d rather be sitting down! But knowing we’re doing it for such a great cause will make every mile worth it.
