London Duathlon 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·

At Princess Alice Hospice, we provide exceptional end of life care in our hospice and in the community. We know we can’t prevent death, but we do whatever we possibly can to make it the best it possibly can be. But, above all, we believe that hospice care is for living.

Story

My wife, Karen passed away in January of this year after 6 1/2 years battle with Cancer. She fought every single day to be here as long as possible, but sadly, she passed away on 21 January 2024.

We were one of the lucky families to have had Karen looked after in her final 10 days at Princess Alice Hospice in Esher.

The team there allowed her final days to be full of dignity and care that was second to none, they really are Angels, every single one of them.

To this day, we are supported by the hospice with Reggie & Nancy, and it is a special place for us, and always will be.

I am running the London Duathlon on September 8 this year to raise funds in memory of Karen and for this incredible charity, and would welcome any donation or amount you can give that can then give another family like hours the chance to see their loved ones looked after and at peace.

The London Duathlon is no walk in the park with a 10km run, 44km on the bike followed by another 5km run. I competed in this 5 years ago when Karen was on chemo and had to try and fit training in around this and looking after 2 young children. I still have challenges today, but want to see what I can achieve in terms of fitness and fundraising for this event!!

Thank you in anticipation of your kind support and generosity.
