Story
I am taking part in the Great North Run for Call4Backup in memory of uncle Andrew Rawlinson who sadly died in 2021. My target is to complete the run in under 1 hour 45 minutes.
My uncle spent over 8 years in the London Metropolitan Police, something that myself and my family are incredibly proud of. I also know that Andy was incredibly proud of his career in the Met. He was known for his ability to communicate with people from all walks of life and a willingness to help people - this was particularly apparent in the time he spent helping and training new officers find their feet.
I'll always remember Andy's love for sport - particularly West Ham football club. To this day I still miss our conversations about the England rugby team and their lack of 'French Flair'. I know he would have loved the Ashes series of 2023 - whilst listening to Test Match Special earlier in the summer I often found myself wishing I could text him to get his views on a lacklustre England performance - something that seemed to be a frequent topic of conversation.
Andy is missed by all of us who knew him and I know that Call4BackUp were an important support mechanism for him. Anything you can share to help this brilliant charity is much appreciated.
