Miles For Michaela in Support of Instant Neighbour

Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2025 · 1 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the death of our daughter Michaela.
In 2005 we arranged a sponsored walk and raised a substantial amount of money for charity, and as a memorial to her, this took the form of an award handed out annually to a fifth year pupil at Westhill Academy, this has been running since 2006.
This year we want to re-create “Miles for Michaela” to honour and celebrate her life. We hope many of you will want to sign up and come along too.
We are supporting Instant Neighbour, a local Aberdeen based Charity, as I have worked and volunteered there and have seen first hand how people benefit from the services they offer.

Instant Neighbour has been supporting people in Aberdeen City and Shire for 40 years. We assist individuals on low incomes in setting up homes by providing access to affordable, reused furniture, white goods, clothing, and bric-a-brac. In addition to our shops, we offer services like Carpetinc and Joinerinc, professional services available to everyone in the community.
A key part of our work is our foodbank, which provides vital support to individuals and families who are struggling to access essential food. The foodbank is an essential lifeline for many, helping to ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
We also offer valuable employability experiences through volunteering opportunities in our shops, warehouse, vans, and office.
Each year, we run our Annual Giving Tree, ensuring that no young person goes without a gift at Christmas.
