Miles for Mila - 100 Miles through September

Jay Routledge is raising money for Headlines - Craniofacial Support

Miles for Mila - 100 Miles throughout Craniosynostosis Awareness Month · 1 September 2026

Headlines Craniofacial Support UK provides practical support and information to people affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions to help them overcome the physical, psychological and social impacts of living with these conditions.

Story

Throughout September, Craniosynostosis Awareness Month, I am cycling 100 miles to raise vital funds and awareness for Headlines Craniofacial Support, a cause that has become deeply personal to our family.

My one-year-old daughter, Mila, was diagnosed with sagittal synostosis at birth. Craniosynostosis is a rare condition, affecting around 1 in every 2,000 to 2,500 babies—where one or more of the seams (sutures) in a baby's skull fuse prematurely before the brain has finished growing. In Mila’s case, it was her sagittal suture, which can affect the shape of the head and require specialised medical care and monitoring.

Navigating a diagnosis like this from day one can be overwhelming for any family. Charities like Headlines provide a crucial lifeline. They offer direct emotional support, connect families facing similar journeys, advocate for early diagnosis, and fund vital research and resources for NHS craniofacial teams across the UK. Because Headlines relies entirely on voluntary donations, every single pound makes a direct, tangible difference to families who need it most.

A 100-mile target across 30 days means pushing past the daily routine, getting out on the bike, and using every mile to bring attention to a condition that often goes unrecognised.

Whether you are able to donate to support Headlines, or simply share this page to help spread awareness about craniosynostosis, your support means the world to me, to Mila, and to our entire family.

Thank you so much for backing Miles for Mila!
