For over 30 years, my mum has been a nurse at Mid and South Essex Hospital's Children's Burns Unit, where she helps operate on children who have suffered severe burns. Growing up, I've had a front-row seat to the incredible work done by the burns team - and the immense challenges these children and their families face.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to help out at the Children's Burns Camp, and it was an experience that has stayed with me ever since. Watching what these brave children go through really opened my eyes to just how much they endure - not just once, but over and over again as part of their recovery journey.

Burns don't just leave physical scars. These children often feel isolated and different, struggling with the emotional and social impact of their injuries. That's where the Mid and South Essex Children's Burns Club comes in. While the hospital provides the medical treatment, the Burns Club offers something equally vital - a community where these children can be themselves, make friends who truly understand what they're going through, and simply be kids again.

I'll be running the London Marathon 2026. This is my first marathon, and I honestly can't wait! Every mile I run will be for these incredibly resilient children and the charity that brings joy, friendship, and support into their lives.

My target is £1,000 - every penny will help fund activities and camps that make such a meaningful difference to these children and their families.
