Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page
Between now and 26th October, a team of 7 of us will be embarking on a "MIles to Orlando" challenge. Over the next 6 months, we will be walking, running, cycling, swimming and rowing the equivalent miles from Heathrow airport to Orlando. This is a gigantic challenge and between us, we will be trying to cover a distance of 4,323 miles. The individuals taking part in this challenge will be:
*Sian Parsons
*Dave Kirby
*Rebecca Kirby
*Sally Dench
*Nicola Hilton (Dench)
*Madeline Penny
*Lee Whitwell
We will be doing this to raise money for a charity called "Dreamflight" which a few of us have close ties to due to knowing children who have been on this trip of a lifetime.
Dreamflight is a UK charity that takes children with a serious illness or disability on their holiday of a lifetime to Orlando. The experience can be life-changing and gives young people an opportunity to do something that medicine can’t: discover independence, confidence and a new outlook on life.
Each October, 192 children from all over the UK, accompanied by a team of medical carers, board a privately-hired aircraft and spend a magical 10 days of fun and excitement in Orlando. Many of the children could not undertake such a trip without the support of the army of volunteer doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and non-medics who care for the children 24 hours a day.
Please donate if you can, or share our page so that we can help send another child to Orlando. Here is a list of what our donations could fund:
£7 enables each child to receive a personalised DVD of their trip
£12 provides lunch and refreshments for a child during a day in one of the theme parks
£15 pays for a child’s Dreamflight rucksack
£30 buys a child ice creams in all of the theme parks we visit during the trip
£35 pays for a child to spend a full day at a waterpark in Orlando
£50 gives a whole day of fun at Universal Studios for one child
£75 pays for a child to spend a full day at a Walt Disney World Park
£100 covers the cost of a room for two children in a fantastic London hotel, the night before the flight
£180 buys a transit seat, used for transferring some children from their wheelchairs onto the aircraft or theme park rides
£285 covers the cost of a full day at Discovery Cove (including a swim with a dolphin) for two children
£450 funds a full day on Dreamflight for one child
