A number of events throughout the year

The Esme Orike Foundation was created in memory of our daughter, who tragically passed away from a rare cancer called CIC-DUX4 sarcoma. This disease affects children and young adults with low survival rates. The foundation funds research into rare cancers and provides financial support to families

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page and supporting this cause.

We are entering a number of events during 2025 to raise money for the Esme Orike Foundation, a charity aimed at finding life saving treatment options for the Sarcoma that took our beautiful and joyful niece Esme.

Esme sadly passed in September last year from the CIC DUX4 Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that primarily affects children and young people - she died just before her 14th birthday.

Currently there are limited treatment options and due to the rarity of the disease no pharmaceutical companies are yet focussed on it. As it stands there is very little hope for patients diagnosed with this type of cancer.

Charlie & Don (Esme’s parents) spent the year of Esme’s illness in many hospitals, relentlessly researching and exploring every option, and doing everything possible for Esme. They promised her that they would not stop until they have found more effective treatments with improved outcomes for others. To that end they are raising money to fund a dedicated researcher to work alongside leading oncologist Dr Ross Okimoto at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) to look solely at CIC DUX 4 and its response to treatments.

Please help us prevent others suffering as Esme did and devastating even more families.
