Story
On 18 August last year, we lost Mary, our amazing mum, to pancreatic cancer. She was our anchor, and it’s been a very hard five months navigating life without her for me and my family.
Before she passed, a friend of mine (Niamh) told me I needed to get physically and mentally healthy - to look after myself and be there for my mum. I started that health journey on 1 April and since then, have lost more than 4 stone and I’m the fittest I’ve been in 10 years.
My mum was inspiring, and to see how she fought for her life shows me I can and will run a long distance. I will commit.
So, on the 4th of July, I’m running 100km from Orpington to mum’s hometown of Bognor Regis. I’m running for Pancreatic Cancer UK and every step I take will be in her honour.
I’ll be joined by friends along the way and will have an amazing support team helping me get from A to B. I have a fantastic coach, Georgie, on my side and lots of months to train. The early mornings, the dark runs; I will commit and trust the process.
We can always move up another level; we can always take another step forward. You fought for us, Mum, and I can do this for you. Let’s go!
All the money I raise will go directly to raising awareness and change for those families affected by pancreatic cancer, so any money you can donate to this cause would be greatly appreciated. You’ll find a link to donate in my bio.
