Trading My Desk for Distance in support of Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis

Lindsay C is raising money for Rape Crisis Centre

Trading My Desk for Distance - Running for 7.5 hours in support of Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis · 21 April 2026

Women and girls of all ages and backgrounds experience rape and sexual assault, and it can happen at any time in their lives. Rape Crisis has one fundamental aim - to provide a free and confidential support service to women and girls who have experienced sexual violence.

Story

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has donated. I am delighted to announce the total (so far) is £4,589.15.

I am so glad that everything went well on Tuesday and I can officially say I have run an Ultra Marathon.

Total Distance - 56.18km / 34.91miles.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me get through the training, and the day itself. I don't know if I could have done it without your support!

Trading My Desk for Distance – A 7.5 Hour Run for Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis

On April 21st, instead of spending a normal working day at my desk, I will be on my feet for the full 7.5 hours — running as far as I can — to raise money and awareness for Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre.

As a woman who runs, personal safety is something I am always aware of — planning routes, thinking about lighting, and being conscious of who is around me. That constant awareness is part of why this cause feels so important to me. Glasgow Rape Crisis provides confidential, specialist support to survivors of sexual violence, and I want to use something I love doing — running — to help support the vital work they do.

In the lead-up to the challenge, I will be documenting the training, long runs, doubts, fuelling experiments, and everything that goes into trying to stay active for 7.5 hours. I am a runner, but the furthest distance I have covered so far is 24km. This challenge is likely to take me beyond the marathon distance and into ultra-marathon territory.

My employer has also agreed to match what I raise, *up to £250, meaning your donation will have double the impact.

On the day itself, I hope to build a positive buzz both in my workplace, along the streets I run, and within the wider online community following the challenge.

My goals are to raise as much as possible for an incredible charity, to help highlight safety concerns faced by solo female runners, and to complete a minimum distance of 60km.
