Story
Hi,
I’m Millie.
In October 2026, I’ll be taking on an 18-day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp — not just for the adventure and to see the mountains, but to raise money for the British Liver Trust.
Back in October 2022, my dad had liver failure. He spent some time in intensive care unit, and there were moments we truly didn’t know if we’d lose him. Luckily, after surgery and a fair amount of recovery, he pulled through — and for the past few years, he’s been living life to the fullest again.
In March 2025, he was suddenly back in hospital with both liver and heart problems. It was really scary - that familiar cocktail of fear, anxiety and helplessness, all over again. Once again we are so lucky that he's okay, but those moments stay with you.
The helplessness hit me harder than I thought and I realised I wanted to do something. That's where the idea of raising money for charity came to mind.
So, I’m trekking to Everest Base Camp to raise £1,000 for the British Liver Trust — to help fund their incredible work: providing patient support, running information and awareness campaigns like Love Your Liver, creating support groups, and working with healthcare professionals to ensure people get the treatment they need sooner.
Honestly, this part of this challenge is personal too. During this experience I realised that life really is short, and how important it is to say yes to the things that scare and inspire you.
If you would like to support me - either by donating or sharing my page, then I would be so grateful.
Thank you for helping me make a difference.
