I’m running the Southend Half Marathon with a much heavier heart than I ever expected.

Just two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, we lost my grandad. It all happened so quickly that we’re still trying to come to terms with it. He was truly adored by everyone who knew him. He was kind, funny, and full of life, the kind of person you feel lucky to have had in your world.

I had already signed up to run in memory of my other Grandad we lost in November, but now every step I take will be for both of them.

I’m running to say thank you to Havens Hospice for the incredible care, compassion, and dignity they gave them both in their final days. The support they provide to families during the hardest times is something I will never forget.
