Dear Supporters and Friends,
We are proud to share that Millwall Community Trust’s Military Veteran Football Programme will once again be participating in the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) 40km walk this June in Kent — commemorating the anniversary of the D-Day Landings. This event is not just a physical challenge; it’s a mission with purpose.
Our group will be walking to raise funds equally for two causes close to our hearts:
1. The continuation of our Military Veteran Football Programme into its second year, and
2. Supporting the incredible work of RBLI in providing housing, employment, and wellbeing services for veterans.
Launched in 2023, our Military Veteran Football Programme — funded by a Sky Bet EFL Building Foundations grant — has rapidly grown into a lifeline for many former service personnel. It offers more than just football; it delivers camaraderie, a renewed sense of purpose, and access to vital support networks. Veterans participating in the programme benefit from weekly five-a-side sessions, employability support, and health and wellbeing services in partnership with military charities and veteran organisations.
Over the past year, the team has proudly represented the Millwall family on and off the pitch.
We were honoured to win the Veterans RBL Cup at Lilleshall, a national competition that brought veterans together from across the UK in the spirit of teamwork and remembrance. We’ve also engaged in friendly matches against other football clubs, veteran teams, and community organisations, further strengthening bonds through sport.
This June’s 40km walk marks our second consecutive year taking part in the RBLI fundraiser — a testament to our commitment. Last year’s team braved the trek with pride, raising awareness and funds for veteran causes. As one participant said, “The lengths military veterans will go for a game of football!” — and that dedication is what fuels us again this year.
We’re calling on you — our friends, supporters, and extended Millwall community — to get behind us. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps sustain the programme for another year and supports RBLI’s life-changing work.
Together, we’re not just walking for fitness — we’re walking for purpose, for our brothers and sisters in arms, and for a stronger future.
Thank you for standing with us.
