Story
This summer in aid of the British Heart Foundation, I will be cycling solo approximately 1800kms from Warsaw to Edinburgh via Berlin, Rotterdam and Hull.
Over 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) occur each year with a tragically low survival rate of 1 in 10.
On 12th June 2020 I ‘luckily’ became part of that 10% when I survived an OHCA while out for a run. As a result of the cardiac arrest, I suffered a hypoxic brain injury and lost 6 months of my memory. I am not only incredibly lucky to be alive but also able to undertake this fundraising challenge primarily due to the lifesaving CPR from two members of the public on that day.
You can save a life too as CPR dramatically increases the survival rate of an OHCA. It is a vital skill that I think everyone should learn and the BHF have a fantastic short 15-minute course:

AEDs are also becoming more common in public places and large buildings however first responders can only access them if they know where they are.
The BHF have set up The Circuit, a national defibrillator network, which provides the NHS ambulance services with vital information about defibrillators across the UK so that in those crucial moments after a cardiac arrest, they can be accessed quickly to help save lives. If you have an AED at your workplace, please register it on The Circuit now!
In addition, in support of my cycle, my dad Richard Moss will also be clocking up a few hundred kms on a static bike. Together, we hope to highlight the importance of learning lifesaving CPR and of registering AEDs on The Circuit as we pedal away for BHF.
We have set a target of £1000 so approximately £1 for every mile cycled from Warsaw to Edinburgh. Any donation no matter the size would be greatly appreciated!
If you can, please share this page and try to inspire more people to learn CPR and save a life.
