We provide support, advice and housing for people experiencing a problem with their mental health here in Birmingham. Last year 25,850 people accessed our services. We could not provide these services without your support. It makes a real difference to people in our community, thank you.

Story

Katie Sweeney - Global Events Coordinator JLR

Nicole Harrison - Logistics Partner Solutions Lead JLR

Carl Lacey - New Project Introduction Project Engineer WHS Plastics

Martyna Maganga - Supplier Development Engineer JLR

We are participating in the JLR Challenge 2023, the event will be a 15 - 25 mile route in the Welsh countryside where we will encounter a number of exciting and challenging team exercises.

These exercises will be both physically and mentally demanding and will make up a significant part of the competitive element of the competition. Teams can plan their route and activities according to the physical capabilities of team members and should expect to walk a minimum of 15 miles over hilly terrain carrying a small rucksack, over an 11-hour period.

We have all agreed to fundraise for Birmingham Mind as a collective and here are the reasons why...

As someone who has experience of watching a loved one suffer with mental health , I know first hand how detrimental this can be for the individual and also loved ones. If you are suffering , are close to or caring for somebody with a mental illness , everyone should have the opportunity to seek help. This is why I want to raise money for Birmingham Mind , so they can continue to offer help and support to those in need. Its a great cause that's close to my heart! - Lucy

It was heart-breaking to lose my dad at a young age and watch my best friend suffer with mental health, if you or someone you know is struggling please don’t suffer alone. Birmingham Mind is a fantastic charity that is actively working to educate and encourage people to look after their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. They offer great services that can support you, a friend or family member but they need your help to be able to continue their great work. Your donations will help Birmingham Mind’s vision for Better Mental Health for all! – Nicole x

Birmingham Mind is a charity that is very close to my heart. I have known many people close to me that have had personal struggles with their mental health in one way or another, including myself. Unfortunately, not all feeling like they could talk openly about their struggles and thus not getting the support that they needed when they needed it. Which is why the tireless work that Birmingham Mind do is absolutely crucial to the community. They are not only there to support people when they need it but also to educate people on mental health awareness and remind people that it is good to talk! So please donate to this worthy cause and help to break the stigma - Katie x

We are raising money for Birmingham Mind which is an amazing charity ensuring nobody has to face there struggles alone, with 1 in 4 people struggling with mental health each year. This is a charity that is close to each of us in our own ways and unfortunately it is something I have had to watch close people around me struggle with and I know how much charities like Birmingham Mind have helped them through these difficult situations. Please remember that you are not alone and there is help and support out there. Let’s work together to support a brilliant charity and help them continue with their great work. Thanks – Charlotte x

As is all too common, I've personally seen how mental health issues can affect the people close to us. I've also seen how mental health seems to still be a taboo subject which stifles awareness in the community. That's why I'm happy to see how charities such as Birmingham Mind can provide much needed support to those who need it most. I'm happy for the opportunity to raise funds for this great charity. - Carl

I am excited to be able to raise funds for Birmingham Mind Charity, knowing they make a difference in life's of so many people. Having being diagnosed with depression at 16, seeing my close friends going through mental health struggles as well as losing their loved ones to it, I am sure everyone understand how important is to ensure support is available. Mind, not only offers support but also helps to normalise conversation about mental health and importance of seeking help, just like we would go to the dentist with a tooth ache. Hiking is also a very popular and effective way to improve both mental and physical wellbeing, I am very excited to complete the JLR challenge with colleagues I work daily or would never have a chance to meet and support this great charity which supports so many people in my hometown! - Martyna
