Story

🏔️ Why We’re Taking on This Challenge:

Hi, we’re Ollie and Callum, two Soldiers taking on a huge challenge, trekking and climbing to the summit of Mera Peak (6,476m/ 21,247ft) in Nepal. For around roughly 18 days, we’ll battle through freezing temperatures, high-altitude storms, and ice glaciers to conquer Mera Peak. Every step will test our endurance, pushing us to the limits in one of the most extreme environments on Earth. This isn’t just a climb it’s a fight against the elements. Support us as we take on this epic challenge!

But this isn’t just about the climb. We are doing this to raise awareness for men’s mental health.

Men’s mental health is a silent crisis, so many men struggle with anxiety, depression, and personal battles but don’t feel they can talk about it. Too often, men suffer in silence, feeling like they need to “tough it out” alone.

In the last year alone, we have seen multiple friends end their lives simply because they felt they couldn’t speak up. The pain of losing them is something that will never leave us. The hardest part? It was avoidable. If more men felt comfortable opening up and seeking support, we might not be losing so many brothers, sons, fathers, and friends.

This climb represents something bigger:

✔ The struggle of mental health challenges, just like climbing, it’s steep, unpredictable, and exhausting.

✔ The importance of endurance and resilience, pushing through even when it feels impossible.

✔ The message that no one has to do it alone, just as we’ll climb together, mental health struggles should never be faced alone.

We refuse to sit back and watch more lives be lost. This expedition is our way of fighting back.

🌍 Why Your Support Matters

Every pound raised will go directly toward The Rifles Benevolent Trust

📢 Why We Need Your Support

This is about more than just climbing, we are starting a conversation about men’s mental health.

Your support will help us:

🧭 Document our journey through photos, videos, and storytelling.

🗣️ Share real experiences of resilience, struggle, and perseverance.

🎥 Create a short film on the climb and what it represents for mental health.

We believe that adventure is a powerful way to start difficult conversations—and by taking on this challenge, we hope to inspire more men to speak openly about their struggles and seek support when needed.

Any donation, big or small, helps make this happen. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this campaign means everything to us.

📸 How We’ll Share the Journey

We plan to document this entire expedition through:

📍 Daily trip updates: Instagram #MindsOverMera

📷 photography from the climb.

✍ A post-expedition write-up reflecting on lessons learned.

We want to share not just the success but the struggles, challenges, and real experiences of mountaineering—paralleling the struggles many men face with mental health.

🧗 Why Mera Peak?

Mera Peak is Nepal’s highest trekking peak at 6,476m (21,247 ft). It offers breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, some of the world’s tallest mountains.

Unlike Everest or other famous climbs, Mera Peak is an incredible challenge for independent climbers, requiring:

✔ Remote trekking through the Himalayas.

✔ Technical mountaineering at high altitudes.

✔ Navigating glacier terrain and unpredictable weather.

This climb will push us to our limits and we want YOU to be part of the journey!
