Miranda's fundraiser for Vision Norfolk

Miranda Reeves is raising money for Vision Norfolk
“220th anniversary of the founding of Vision Norfolk”

on 31 July 2025

To celebrate our 220th anniversary we’re launching our 220 Fundraising Challenge to help sustain the vital services and activities we provide, supporting individuals with vision impairment in Norfolk.

Story

Through the generosity of people like yourselves, Vision Norfolk has been supporting people with sight loss to live independent and fulfilled lives for over 200 years. With an estimated 35,000 people living with some degree of sight loss in Norfolk, our work is needed more than ever. We support people through adapted social, sports and educational activities, providing practical support through our visiting community workers, at eye clinics and our community hubs and providing specialised housing and telephone befriending.

In December 2023 I suffered peripheral sight loss in both eyes due to Optic Neuropathy, I now have 20% vision in my left eye & about 50% vision in my right eye. I found it hard to accept how much my sight loss would effect my day to day life & that I would have to give up riding my bicycle. I didn't know what to do or how to cope, then I heard about Vision Norfolk. I rang them & spoke to Edward who arranged a home visit with Matthew, a fellow bike enthusiast, from that initial contact I met more people living with sight loss & my confidence grew, I now have a Tandem that my husband & I ride, I play tennis & go to coffee mornings ran by Catherine & the team. To thank Vision Norfolk for all their help & support my husband & I are doing a sponsored 50 mile Tandem ride in stages, due to my COPD, at the end of July.

I am raising funds to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the founding of Vision Norfolk, as part of an effort to raise £220,000.
