My Trek in Memory of Heather

In the summer of 2024, our lives changed forever when we lost our dear family member, Heather, to Lobular Breast Cancer. Diagnosed in 2020, Heather fought with incredible grace—she kept running, kept working, and kept travelling with her husband and two young daughters.

Losing Heather has left a hole in our lives, but it has also ignited a fire in me. I am taking on the CoppaTrek! with Gi 2026 to honour her memory and to ensure other families don’t have to face the same devastating loss.

Why CoppaFeel!?

Heather was a huge supporter of CoppaFeel, and posted her own monthly reminders for us to check our Boobs and Moobs, so it seemed only fitting that I raise money for CoppaFeel in her name.

Early detection is the best defense we have. My mission isn't just to walk; it’s to:

1. Normalize monthly checking for all.

2. Turn awareness into action so that diagnosis happens early enough to save lives.

3. Raise vital funds to keep CoppaFeel!’s life-saving tools free and accessible.

The Challenge

The Jurassic Coast trek is a monumental physical and mental challenge. I’m bringing my resilience, my organizational skills (16 years as a Councillor prepares you for anything!), and a bag full of snacks to share with my teammates.

Please help me smash my target of £2500. Every penny raised goes directly to CoppaFeel! to help them continue their life-saving work.

🌸 Small But Mighty (£5 – £15)

• £5 could pay for 50 people to receive life-saving monthly text reminders, making boob-checking a habit that sticks.

• £10 could provide 100 "Know Your Lemons" leaflets to a local GP surgery or community center, helping people spot signs they might otherwise miss.

• £15 could fund a "Uni-Pack" full of educational materials for a student ambassador to distribute on campus, reaching hundreds of young people.

🏠 Community Impact (£25 – £75)

• £30 could pay for a Boobette (a volunteer who has had a personal experience with breast cancer) to deliver a life-saving talk at a local school or workplace—just like yours!

• £50 could help keep the CoppaFeel! Self-Check App free for everyone, providing thousands of users with guided checks and health digital tools.

• £75 could fund the creation of bra-room stickers for an entire leisure center or gym, putting the "check yourself" message exactly where it’s needed most.

🚀 The Big Game-Changers (£100+)

• £100 could fund a Boobette talk for a large assembly, educating hundreds of students at once about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

• £250 could fully train a new Boobette volunteer, giving them the skills and confidence to share their story and save lives across the UK.

• £500 could help fund a national awareness campaign, ensuring that CoppaFeel!’s life-saving message reaches the most underrepresented communities.
