Story
Hi All,
I'm running the London 2027 Marathon in memory of my brother Dave, who was born with Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, and died in 2006 aged 21, when I was 15.
Duchennes is a progressive muscle wasting disease that affects every muscle in the body. Dave had to use a wheelchair when he was 5 and was confined to bed at 13. He was dependent on others for every aspect of daily life but thanks to the support that Muscular Dystrophy UK gave him and our family, he benefitted from specialised equipment, advice and guidance, and enjoyed the best possible quality of life.
However, MD UK is a charity and relies on donations to enable them to help families like ours when they are most in need - so I’d like to raise as much money as possible, and have set myself an ambitious target which I hope to reach with your help!
Sadly, there is still no cure for Duchennes, meaning many more families like ours will continue to rely on the vital services and support that MDUK provides. Every donation no matter how big or small, will help them continue supporting boys like Dave.
Thank you so much for your support, it truly means alot ❤️
