Story
I’m taking part in the Apex Forge 100-Mile Ultra Trek on 6th June 2026 in support of the Andy Cole Fund, working alongside Kidney Research UK.
In just 24 hours, I’ll attempt to complete 100 miles — that’s 4.2 miles every single hour. This will be the toughest physical challenge I’ve ever set myself, and honestly, just getting to the start line will take serious commitment. My goal is simple: push as far as I possibly can and give everything I’ve got.
But this is about much more than miles.
Having had a father who suffered from kidney disease, and a father-in-law who is living with it now, I’ve seen first-hand how much it affects individuals and families — and how limited the support can feel for those going through it.
Andy created the Fund to support people living with kidney disease — helping to fund vital research into transplants and treatment, as well as improving patients’ mental health and wellbeing. Kidney disease changes lives. Transplants change lives. And research saves lives.
If Andy’s story has inspired you — whether you’re part of the football community, have been personally affected by kidney disease, or simply believe in backing life-changing causes — I’d be hugely grateful for your support.
Now is the time to come together and help finish kidney disease for good.
Let’s get united and change the game for kidney disease — together.
