MLA's fundraiser for UK Men's Sheds Association

MLA Architects and Designers is raising money for UK Men's Sheds Association

MLA 100K Run, Walk, Cycle · 29 August 2025

We are the UK Men’s Sheds Association, the support body for Men’s Sheds across the UK. We work hard to inspire and support the formation and development of as many Men’s Sheds as possible as community-driven, member-led entities, for the benefit of men’s health and wellbeing.

Story

The MLA 100k returns, as our intrepid team run, cycle or walk from Bridge of Allan to the stunning Airthrey Estate and The Ochils.

With a variety of routes and distances to choose from, team members will be challenging themselves to raise money for our chosen charity.

This year we're aiming to raise £6,000 for Men’s Sheds.

Men’s Sheds are places to pursue practical interests, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending. They’re about community, friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge.

Research has shown the negative impact of loneliness and isolation on a person’s health and wellbeing. Men typically find it more difficult to build social connections than women, and unlike women of a similar age, less older men have networks of friends. For some, when retirement comes, it can feel like personal identity and purpose is lost. Men’s Sheds can change all of that.

Sheds bring health benefits by encouraging physical and mental activity and a way to stay socially integrated. Whilst most Sheds are for men, about a third involve women. There are now also some all women Sheds.

Many Sheds get involved in community projects too – restoring village features, helping maintain parks and green spaces, and building things for schools, libraries and individuals in need.

UK Men’s Shed’s association’s mission is to enable access to a Men’s Shed for every man that would benefit from one

MLA are supporting Men’s Sheds, and we'd love your help to achieve our goal.
