This month, our MLA colleagues stepped away from their desks and into nature.

For our annual Green Month initiative, we took part in a day of ecological restoration. Under the expert guidance of the Borders Forest Trust, we planted a range of native tree species.

Our aim was to make a lasting contribution to Scotland’s landscape while learning about rewilding.

The planting of trees and shrubs provides essential habitats for birds, animals, insects, and aquatic life. Southern Scotland has the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland.
