Story
This summer just gone, I lost my dad to brain cancer.
The loss of my dad was so unexpected and so fast, from diagnosis it took 2 months before the disease took him from us. Although throughout those 2 months my dad never took a day off from fighting it, he was so determined to overcome the cruel disease whilst smiling and laughing with me, my mum and my sister, ensuring we were okay..
In memory of my incredible dad MMU Equestrian Club has teamed up with MMU Rugby League to raise money for a cause close to mine and my family’s heart!
6 of the RL lads will undergo a crash course into riding to see if they have what it takes in our sport!
My dad was one of my biggest supporters when it came to my passion for horse riding, even owning a horse when he was younger himself, so I know he would absolutely love this event and will be having a laugh watching the lads give it a go!
Brain cancer is the 9th most common cancer, with only a 21% survival rate for those aged above 40.. with such horrible statistics it shocks me that it is one of the least researched and funded!
I believe this makes it more important than ever to raise money for this important cause to help towards finding a cure and preventing as many people from going through what my dad did.
Our event will take place on Wednesday the 15th of May at 12pm, we will be featuring the day on our Instagram @mmuequestrian for those who want to see how the lesson unfolds for the lads!
We massively appreciate any donations and support towards our event, thank you! ❤️
