Story
We are walking the Glastonbury Water Way for The Melanesian Mission because they are fundraising for environmental projects.
Many communities in Solomon Islands and Vanuatu are struggling to understand climate change and make plans for the future. MMUK’s Environment Observatories programme teaches communities the reasons behind and also the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation.
Simple equipment enables the communities to record changes in rainfall, temperature and on the coast, beach erosion, empowering them to plan for the future and evidence changes, to potentially access funds for adaptation projects.
On this six-day, sixty-mile pilgrimage from Bath to Glastonbury we will pray for communities facing climate change and raise funds for the expansion of the Environment Observatories programme.
