Ym mis Mawrth 2025 byddaf yn rhedeg Hanner Marathon Lisbon hefo un o'm ffrindie gorau, Emily. Byddwn yn rhedeg er cof am ei thad Ian Tyrer a fu farw ym mis Gorffennaf o glefyd cronig yr ysgyfaint (COPD). Rydym wedi penderfynu codi pres at 'The Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity' sydd yn helpu dalgylch o 2.8 miliwn o bobl ledled Glannau Merswy, Gogledd Cymru a Ynys Manaw. Ar ol rhedeg Hanner Marathon Caerdydd yn 2022, dwi'n awyddus i gwblhau y 'Superhalf', sef 6 hanner marathon ar draws 6 dinas yn Ewrop. Byddwn yn hynod ddiolchgar am unrhyw gyfraniad at yr achos arbennig hwn!!

In March 2025 I will be running the Lisbon Half Marathon with one of my closest friends, Emily, in memory of her father. Please have a read of her story below:

On the 30th of July 2024 my wonderful Dad, Ian, passed away suddenly in his sleep, suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, better known as COPD. Dad’s death has come as a shock to us all and one of the few things that has helped get me through this incredibly difficult time has been running, particularly training for Cardiff Half Marathon in October. By running Cardiff Half earlier this year, I unintentionally started my 60 month clock to complete the ‘Superhalf’ challenge. This entails running 6 half marathons in 60 months, across 6 different European cities. I have decided to run the second half marathon in this challenge on the 9th March 2025 in memory of my beloved Dad. Dad would have loved the thought of me running these 6 wonderful half marathons and has always encouraged me to live ambitiously and endorsed my love for travel. I can almost hear the excitement he would express for taking on this challenge.

In recent times, Dad received a great deal of support from the NHS. This is why I have decided to run Lisbon Half Marathon for the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity. This hospital serve a catchment area of 2.8 million people across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, Isle of Man, and beyond. Dad was born in Liverpool and raised in Wallasey from aged 6. Despite moving away for periods of his life, he always returned to his roots and loved living at ‘home’, which makes this charity all the more appropriate to support in his memory.

They work tirelessly and passionately to research and assist people like Dad, suffering with their heart and chest. If the money I raise can help people like Dad and families like ours, in the hope that the next family won’t receive the same heart-breaking news that we did on a ‘normal’ Wednesday morning, then I will have done Dad proud.

I will be running this race with my lovely friend Modlen, who has her own personal reasons to support this lovely charity.
