Story
I completed the Richmond Old Deer Park Half Marathon on the 5th November. The weather on the day was quite dry but a little windy to start with. I was pleased with my performance having completed the race in 2hr 20mins, a 5-year PB and was in 7th position for my age group😃🏃🏿♂️💪🏾 .
I am funfdraising for the Sickle Cell Society, a charity that supports people suffering from the disease to make them cope better in living with the condition and to raise public awareness and education about the disease.
The Sickle Cell disorder is a collective for a series of serious inherited chronic conditions that can affect all systems of the body. It is one of the most common genetic conditions in the world and 1 in 4 people in Sierra Leone is a trait carrier. If both your mother and father carry the sickle cell gene you have one in four chance of having the sickle cell disorder.
