Azhaar Amayreh / her background and story in brief:
Originally from the West Bank, and daughter of the noted late Palestinian journalist Sheikh Khalid Amayreh. Azhaar is a Digital marketing consultant, Influencer marketing advisor, and an Arabic to English translator. And prior to the war, was earning her daily living by way of consulting, remotely supporting clients across the globe; hand-holding of Career-professionals and Mid-sized businesses for achieving respective marketing objectives (via digital and traditional marketing channels). She is married to Abdullah Abu Al-Laban and the mother of a 7-year-old daughter. She recently moved to Gaza from the West Bank after the death of her sick journalist father.
The marital home is located in the Al-Faluja area in Gaza City, but due to the violent bombing, they decided to move to the south of the Strip based on the recommendations of the Israeli army that Rafah is a safe area, but it became clear that there is no safe place in Gaza. Her husband suffers from hepatitis C due to poor health and disastrous living conditions.
Requesting urgent assistance, and current status / update:
Both mother, Father ,daughter are stuck in Rafah and have had very narrow escapes from death / fatal injury. And evacuating them from the hellish environment of Rafah via the Egyptian border crossing is no mean task. Keeping alive, accessing nutrition, clean water and medicines as be the need of the hour. Though they are alive, and relatively safe when posting this message…however the cost of evacuation is spiralling ever higher. We have via this portal garnered / mobilized some funds, however "additional" monies are very urgently required to expedite the process.
An adult needs an amount of no less than $5,000 to be allowed to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing. This amount is paid to the Egyptian side, in addition to the insane costs of living due to the scarcity of basic foodstuffs, not to mention the costs of transportation. So I think I did not exaggerate in requesting this amount. Perhaps I cannot describe reality as it appears, but believe me, even your worst nightmares cannot be compared to the catastrophic reality in the Gaza Strip.
P.S. I would sincerely appreciate if “Kind Hearted People”, “Real Understanding Souls”, “People who can appreciate the challenges facing mother and child just to acquire travel documentation and other mandatory spending to get safe passage / exit safely”…exit processes which are simply inhumane, exceedingly taxing beyond comprehension in themselves…hope “your good-self” can contribute generously to this fund-raiser for Azhaar and her Husband, daughter, notwithstanding the unimaginable suffering out there in Gaza amongst the multitudes.
Dear Donors
I write to you today with a heart heavy with pain and hope, to request your assistance in supporting my family who is enduring severe humanitarian conditions in Gaza. The Abu Al-Laban family, consisting of Abdullah, his wife Azhar, and their seven-year-old daughter Jouri, is suffering from the devastating effects of the war that has ravaged our region. We are living in extremely difficult circumstances, facing daily challenges related to food, water, and health.
You may be aware of the scale of suffering here, but the reality we are experiencing surpasses description. Israeli bombardment and the destruction of war have forced our family to flee three times—from the northern part of the Gaza Strip to its southernmost point, then to the central area, and finally to Deir al-Balah. With each move, the difficulty of finding safe places and surviving increases.
We are facing a severe food crisis, with the cost of basic necessities exceeding our means. We need approximately $400 per week to secure food, but we are unable to afford most of the essential items we need. Additionally, healthcare is almost non-existent, and my husband Abdullah suffers from hepatitis due to the lack of treatment. Our daughter Jouri is severely malnourished, and the scarcity of food makes it hard for us to provide for our basic needs.
The situation is far worse than words can convey. We suffer from a severe shortage of drinking water, and the high prices of basic goods make survival difficult. We can't find cleaning products or shampoo, and the available items are expensive and unsafe. Hygiene has become a luxury we yearn for, while the lack of clean water exacerbates the risk of diseases and epidemics.
In addition to all the aforementioned challenges, we are faced with another grave issue. To leave Gaza, an individual must pay at least $5,000 at the Egyptian border. This amount is a prerequisite for leaving the area, severely limiting our options. We are trapped between two harrowing choices: enduring continuous Israeli bombardment, dying from hunger and malnutrition, or succumbing to diseases due to the collapse of the healthcare system. These harsh conditions make it nearly impossible for us to survive here, as we struggle daily just to stay alive.
We urge you to extend your help and support as much as you can. Any donation or contribution that can help improve our situation and provide food and water for my family would make a significant difference. We also invite you to share this appeal with your friends, family, and community, as every small bit of help can make a big impact on our lives.
We trust in your generosity and kind heart, and we hope that you can find it in your heart to assist us during these difficult times. Thank you for your support and concern, and any donation or help will have a tremendous impact on our lives.
With respect and gratitude,
Abu AL-Laban family
