Story
On Sunday, 12 July 2026, I will be running the Saucony London 10k marathon to raise funds for the Da'aro Youth Project, a vital South London organisation dedicated to supporting asylum seekers from the Horn of Africa — specifically Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Somalia.
Many of these young people have arrived in the UK alone, escaping war and crises in their home countries. Da'aro Youth Project provides more than just practical assistance; it offers a sanctuary where these young individuals find a sense of belonging. It is a place where they can meet others, share meals, and receive crucial support with housing, asylum applications, education, and mental health challenges. Unfortunately, many face hostility and neglect from the system upon arrival — compounding the adversity they have already endured.
Running this 10k is my way of standing with these resilient young people and helping to amplify their voices. I am aiming to raise at least £400 to support Da'aro’s essential work. Your donation can make a real difference in providing hope and stability to those who need it most. Please consider contributing and sharing this cause to help bring greater awareness and support.
