This April, I'll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for the London Irish Centre.
I have been to the London Irish Centre over the years in its beautiful location in Camden Square for various reasons since moving to London in 2018.
I heard wonderful trad music in the sunshine in the square out the front.
I saw a one-man play performed by one of my deceased grandfather's good friends - after which, I enjoyed a great value Guinness and caint as Gaeilge in the middle of London.
I attended a vigil and found support and solidarity in the wake of the murder of Ashling Murphy.
The LIC is a vital source of support, cultural connection and advocacy in London. For over 70 years, the London Irish Centre has supported, entertained, and connected Irish and local communities in London. They are a great organisation and often the first place that Irish people in London turn to for support.
As a charity, they do terrific work providing accredited advice, support, and various community services, including social groups and working with survivors of Irish institutional abuse.
In the last year, the London Irish Centre has helped more than 2,750 individuals through their support services, doing a lot of good work aiding vulnerable people in their community who need support.
Beyond this, the London Irish Centre is a fantastic hub of Irish culture and education in London, with regular literary events, comedy nights, art exhibitions, history talks and more happening every week.
It is a home away from home for many and a vital lifeline for those who use its services.
All money raised will go towards supporting the London Irish Centre’s community services, helping to continue serving their community.
All support is appreciated - thank you!
