Story
As many of you will know, in April this year we lost our dear colleague Nicola Orrow following her battle with Cancer. Nicola joined the business in 2019 and became an important member of our Business Development team and a friend to all that worked with her. Nicola was heavily involved in our charity fundraiser last year where we raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support. Thanks to Nicola and all that donated, we raised over £17,000 (including Gift Aid).
Nicola spent her last few days at the Isabel Hospice in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. During her time at the hospice, Nicola received outstanding care, and was able to pass with dignity and in comfort, surrounded by her loved ones. The hospice will continue to support the family whilst they try to come to terms with their loss.
For patients in East Hertfordshire, if you have a life limiting illness, Isabel Hospice can provide care for you and your family. The care is free, and can be provided in your home, at their Living Well community hubs on in their In-Patient Unit. It currently costs £8M a year to provide this service with our 20% coming from the NHS, the rest is voluntarily funded by the community.
In a bid to raise over £20,000 - Over the weekend of 18th - 19th October 21 Borras Employees will be taking on the challenge of the Devon Coast to coast- cycling 100 miles of hills and valleys from Plymouth, on the South coast of Devon to Ilfracombe on the North Coast of Devon.
Every year we nominate a chosen Charity. This year in memory of Nicola and other former colleagues we have chosen to support Isabel Hospice.
This is also some what of a personal challenge for me, having lost 8 stone since last September this is the first time in a long time I have been able to do physical activity. I am thoroughly enjoying getting out on my bike with my son Charlie who is also enjoying having an active mummy.
Please dig deep to support this amazing event and this imperative service that Isabel Hospice provide!
"Thanks to all for your efforts and your kindness, we know Nicky would have been delighted and wanting so much to be involved. Looking forward to meeting you all in Ifracombe." – Paul & Ann Beeson
