Story
As most of my friends and family know, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year. I had a big lump removed from my tricep that turned out to be Sarcoma (soft tissue cancer), specifically DFSP - after 18 months of doctors appointments, ultrasounds, MRIs etc. and being told multiple times that it was nothing to worry about.
I am incredibly, incredibly lucky that I didn’t need any treatment after both of my operations. I received support from Macmillan which I well and truly needed at that time. My surgeon told me if I had left the lump then it would have spread to my lungs and my bones.
I have a very big keloid scar on my arm which I receive physio and massage therapy for, I have a weakness in my rotator cuff and have lost a lot of strength in my arm and upper body. I’m slowly getting back into weightlifting and have given myself this challenge as something I can look forward to achieving. One of my best friends Elle will be by my side competing with me, just as she has been by my side during my cancer journey. I want to prove to myself and to others that even after a cancer diagnosis, you can still be capable.
