Story
Hi! My name is Molly and in April 2026, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Mind. I have little experience as a runner, however, I have decided to challenge myself in hopes of raising money for such an important cause. Mind is a mental health charity which ensures that information and support is available for everyone. I have decided to raise money for Mind as I myself know what it feels like to feel hopeless and alone whilst struggling with mental health.
I am 20 years old and a dance student at Trinity Laban in London. As well as being recently diagnosed as Autistic, I was diagnosed with some mental health conditions at 16. Whilst I am thriving now, from the ages of 16-19 I struggled massively. This impacted my life, leading to past struggles with self-harm and multiple suicide attempts. Although I am lucky to have received help from multiple inpatient and outpatient services, there are many people who cannot access this kind of support. Seeking help is a massive and scary step within mental health recovery which many people are then met with just being placed on a waiting list, or worse being told that they are not 'bad' enough or attention seeking. This should not be the case, and should more people receive the help they need early enough many crises could be avoided. Mind needs your help so that they can be there for anyone who needs them, on the phone, in local communities, and campaigning for change. I personally have found that the work Mind does very valuable, allowing me to view resources helping me to understand my diagnoses better and to hear stories of those who have been in similar situations. I am fortunate to be in the place now where I can see hope for my future and I want to do everything I can to try and help those who are struggling like I did. Now more than ever, people need support, in the UK, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem this year. Anything you could donate would be appreciated massively! Thank you :).
