Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Three years ago I reported a serious incident to the police. This week, I stood up in court and relived the worst night of my life. I had my family, the police and the CPS behind me.
The verdict was “not guilty.” That is the reality for so many survivors. This is one of the hardest crimes to prove, and this process has shown me why so many women never come forward: the shame, the raw details you’re forced to relive, and — the hardest part — not being believed.
Despite the verdict, I am proud that I stood up for myself and told the truth. I survived three years of whispers, comments, and harassment for pursuing this case, and I kept going. For that, I will always be proud of myself.
The case was brought to crown court with 3 charges. Unfortunately, the 12 people on the jury came to the not guilty verdict as there just wasn’t enough evidence to prove it 100% even with everything i brought forward. This is the case with most crimes against women. I will continue to stand up for myself and the hundreds of other women that go through this situation.
I will continue to tell my story and do everything in my power to support other women going through this situation in a world that doesn’t protect women.
