Molly's fundraiser for Road Victims Trust

Molly Blakeman is raising money for Road Victims Trust

T100km triathlon · 10 August 2025

Road Victims Trust support of road victims is provided by a team of highly skilled counselling volunteers and staff. The principles and ethos of the RVT reflect a primary and compelling aspiration to provide personal support to all those affected by the trauma caused by serious road collisions.

Story

It feels like I should find another reason as to why do I’m doing this triathlon (!!!) so I am raising money for the Road Victims Trust. Counselling is helping me process and navigate grief and feel less worried about running and cycling on roads again. Triathlon training has given me a way to cope and process my emotions, especially my post-counselling Monday evening swim- a rather harmonious pairing! This challenge is selfishly for me, but raising money is to support others in similar positions to me.

The Road Victims Trust is a charity dedicated to supporting people who have been affected by the grief and trauma of a road death or a serious injury or life changing injury collisions. Victims are offered emotional and practical support for as long as it is useful.

The need to provide effective, personal support to those affected by death or life changing injuries resulting from road collisions is a significant issue. There are formal legal processes following a serious road collision that involve the Police, Coroner, Crown Prosecution Service and personal injury lawyers.

However, the work to complete these legal processes does not include the provision of specialist emotional and practical support that is so often needed by victims following the collision. Victims include bereaved individuals and families, those that were involved in the collision or who witnessed it. The Road Victims Trust seeks to fill the gap by providing support for the bereaved and people otherwise affected by road death or life changing injuries.
