Story

One in every seven babies born in the UK will need specialist care. Bliss is the leading UK charity supporting babies born premature or sick.

The day our daughter was born was nothing like we imagined. Skye arrived on Sunday 3rd August 2025, full term at 41 weeks and 4 days, weighing 8lb 4oz. After just a few hours, our world shifted, and we found ourselves in the neonatal ward — somewhere we never expected to be.

For a month, the neonatal team became our lifeline. They didn’t just care for Skye; they cared for us. They explained, reassured, and prepared us for the journey ahead. Their compassion steadied us when the ground beneath our feet felt like it was crumbling.

We became part of something that not all parents can fully understand unless they’ve lived it. The neonatal team and Bliss will forever hold a special place in my heart — a charity you may never hear about until the moment you desperately need them.

I will never be able to repay the neonatal team or Bliss for everything they did for us, and for ensuring we are where we are today.

Your donation will help Bliss drive improvements in neonatal care, ensure that the needs of babies are at the heart of future policy and planning, and provide vital information and support to families with a baby born premature or sick.

Having a sick or premature baby in the neonatal ward is something that could happen to any family, and many people won’t have heard of this charity until the moment they desperately need its support. Their work is vital, and they rely on ongoing help to continue providing essential care for babies and the families who are suddenly thrown into this journey.
