We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis. That’s why we work tirelessly to make suicide prevention a priority.

Story

The Colchester branch of Samaritans first opened its doors in May 1964, supporting the community in Colchester and the surrounding areas. They currently have over 100 listening volunteers, some having been with them for over 40 years. They are open for around 70% of the hours in a week including through the night, supporting callers who contact us suffering with emotional distress and despair.

This year, they celebrate 60 years of their branch. Like all branches they rely entirely on donations from the public and other organisations. Your donations will help them to stay open year-round. Therefore we are holding a charity football tournament to try and raise some money!
