Story
Our daughter Molly was born in 2021 with a bicuspid aortic valve, a form of congenital heart condition. Molly has not needed surgery yet, although we were made aware this could be a high probability in the future.
Anyone who knows Molly will know how much of an energetic, happy and strong-minded little girl she is, being the perfect twin sister and little sister to Amelia and Freddie (most of the time). She takes everything in her stride and has brought us so much joy with her infectious singing and dancing!
Fortunately for Molly, her condition has not impacted her quality of life so far and she continues to be under annual review at Lincoln County Hospital. However, myself and Leanne are aware that many other parents have a much more difficult set of circumstances to navigate when their precious baby is born. What should be the happiest time of a parent's life can suddenly become a very dark time, filled with anxiety, worry and sadness.
Therefore we would like to raise some money and awareness for Tiny Tickers, to help them continue the amazing work they do for families of babies born with congenital heart defects.
Anyone who knows me knows I am a keen runner, and have completed a few marathons already. Whilst running a single marathon IS HARD, I felt simply running another marathon in isolation might not be enough to get people to donate towards this fantastic cause. So, what better challenge than taking on 8 marathons in 8 consecutive weekends?!
Starting in Manchester on Sunday 19th April 2026, I will follow this up each weekend with another marathon including the Shakespeare, Newcastle and Leeds marathons, Market Harborough Half (x2 laps), Edinburgh marathon and Newmarket Half (x2 laps), finishing on Sunday 7th June with an unofficial marathon route to be determined around Lincoln, hopefully with some company along the way and taking in my favourite sites along Hykeham Road..
